ORIGINS: Answers In Genesis
Look around you. There are many questions that need answers. There are questions about how life forms started on earth? How the galaxies were formed? Whether there are other life forms on other planets? The quest of science has been to find answers to questions like these and many more that have puzzled mankind for centuries. Thank God for the answers science has come up with so far. They have helped shape our world and continue to help save lives. There is however another source that most modern scientists (not all) tend to ignore - God!
As we start a new series "ORIGINS: Answers In Genesis", we will explore what God has to say about how life started on earth. We will see the beauty of God's wonderful design in creation. Something that the Psalmist saw and said, "How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond numbers - living things both large and small". (Psalm 104:24-25). In fact, the whole of Psalm 104 talks about the wonderful creation of God. Inspired by the wonders of God in creation, Cecil Frances Alexander wrote the hymn "All things bright and beautiful, All creatures great and small, All things wise and wonderful, The Lord God made them all."
As we explore the first three chapters in Genesis, a few things will become clear. First and foremost, you will be exposed to the nature of God. His goodness and loving kindness will shine through. His generosity and ultimate power and grace will pierce any shadow of doubt you may have about His existence, His character and plan for humanity. Contrary to what many will have you believe, you will meet a life giving God whose will is to work in partnership with humanity. Not a cruel and angry God who is out to get you every time you take a wrong step.
You will also discover the purpose of mankind. You will come to realise that we were made for worship. And we all worship, but the question is who or what do we worship? We were made to worship God. We derive our very existence from Him. Since the day He breathed into Adam, His breath remains in our lungs. The union we had with Him in Eden, is a shadow of the union that we will have with Him in eternity, but far better. You will discover how Genesis points to the hope to come - Eternal Life in God's presence for all those who believe in Jesus.
God is working for our good. Even when the first man got it all wrong, and chose death instead of life, this same God made a way. That way is Jesus! So, join us over the next five weeks as we explore "ORIGINS: Answers in Genesis".
